Logging into my account

  • Computer labs
    • ICT supports and maintains many computer labs in the Maxwell-Eggers complex.  Please contact your department for list of publicly available computers.

  • Logging into Maxwell computers:
    • Make sure your user name is in the correct location and typed with no spaces.
    • Make sure that the domain specified is MAXWELL-SCHOOL.
    • Make sure the Caps Lock was not on when you typed your password, and that you typed the correct password.
    • You have 5 tries to enter the correct password before your account will be locked for 20 minutes. If you have forgotten your password, please see the Information Desk at 206 Eggers and ask for a change of password form. You must present your SU ID when you submit the form. ICT Service will reset your password within 24 hours, excluding weekend days.

  • User Profiles:
    • Your user profile defines your Windows XP environment and is loaded by the system when you log on.  All Maxwell user accounts have "roaming" profiles, which means they follow the users around the network to any workstation they use.  Your profile includes all your user-specific settings, such as screen colors, network connections, printer connections, mouse settings, window size and position, and Internet Explorer Cookies and Favorites.
    • Misconfiguration
      • On occasion, a profile will become misconfigured, causing your Windows settings to change.  For example, you may notice that previously installed printers or your Internet Explorer Favorites are missing.  If you notice this has happened to your profile, contact Service.  We will fix or eliminate the misconfigured profile.  If we end up creating you a new profile, you will need to recreate some of your settings, such as printer connections and desktop shortcuts.
    • Roaming Problems
      • If you receive an error stating
        • "Your locally stored user profile is newer than your roaming. Would you like to use your local profile? Yes No"
      • ALWAYS select NO.  If you select the default answer of yes, your roaming profile may be lost or may become misconfigured.  If after selecting no you get further error messages and/or cannot use the computer, This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it immediately.
